The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Barbados met with the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs

On September 17th, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados, H.E. YAN Xiusheng met with the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, the Hon. Dale Marshall. Mr. ZOU Xi, the Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy and Ms. Yvette Goddard, the Permanent Secretary in the Attorney General’s Office also attended this meeting.

Ambassador YAN congratulated Attorney General and Minister Marshall on assuming his new office, reviewed the fruitful achievements in the development of bilateral relations and pragmatic cooperation between China and Barbados. Ambassador YAN also thanked the Barbadian government for its unwavering support to China’s anti-corruption work and also for its support to the successful convening of the first China-Caribbean Conference on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation. Ambassador Yan also expressed that the Chinese Embassy in Barbados stands ready to work closely with Barbadian counterparts to promote the bilateral relations to a higher level.

Attorney General Marshall reiterated that the Barbados Labour Party government strictly adheres to the One China Policy and thanked the Chinese government for the long-standing support that has been provided to the development of all sectors of Barbados. Attorney General Marshall expressed satisfaction with the development of Barbados-China relations and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in all areas and highlighted that the Barbadian government stands ready to further promote the pragmatic cooperation in the areas of judicial and anti-corruption between Barbados and China so as to promote continuous development of the bilateral relations.
