China and Barbados signed the Agreement on the Assignment of Chinese Health Care Personnel to Barbados

Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, H.E. Mr. Yan Xiusheng and Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt. Col. the Hon. Jeffrey Bostic, on behalf on each government, signed the 2nd Agreement on the Assignment of Chinese Health Care Personnel to Barbados on October 28th here in Bridgetown.

In his remarks after the signing ceremony, Ambassador Yan said that the signing of the second agreement was to carry out President Xi Jinping’s solemn promise to further enhance the bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare, and further strengthen the great friendship between the people of China and Barbados, as well as to promote to build a community with a shared future for mankind and create a better world. The Chinese government has successively sent 4 batches of Chinese Medical teams, totaling 32 doctors and nurses, to work in Barbados. They adhered to the Chinese Medical Team’s doctrine of “defy hardship, pursue dedication, heal the wounded and rescue the dying, great love knows no boundary”. Their practice of saving lives, their exquisite medical skills and work ethic have been highly praised and recognized by the government and people of Barbados. According to the new Agreement, the Chinese government will send the fifth Medical Team to replace the fourth one next year. The Chinese Medical Team shall keep providing local communities with quality medical care and dedicating efforts to jointly enhance China-Barbados cooperation in the medical and healthcare sector, as well as the friendship and bilateral relations between the two peoples.

Minister Jeffrey Bostic thanked the Chinese government and people for their kindness while highly recognizing the service provided by all the Chinese Medical Teams. He said that the medical assistance from China has helped fill a number of gaps in the healthcare field in Barbados and benefited local patients. He hoped that the Chinese government keeps providing medical assistance to Barbados thereby to further enhance the bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector.

Vice minister of China National Health Commission Mr. Wang Jianjun, who was paying an official visit to Barbados, acting Chief Executive Officer of QEH, Miss Louise Bobb, and members of the 4th Chinese Medical Team,together with staff from Ministry of Health and Wellness and QEH attended the signing ceremony.
